DEPARTMENT OF CONSERVATIVE DENTISTRY & ENDODONTICS
The Department of Conservative Dentistry & Endodontics consists of two specialties Conservative dentistry & Endodontics. Conservative Dentistry deals with the treatment and rehabilitation of diseased, defective or destructured tooth. It also includes Cosmetic / Aesthetic corrections of teeth. Endodontics deals with root canal treatment, endodontic surgery and related treatments.
In an era wherein the world emphasis is on prevention and conservation, these two specialties play a very vital role in saving the teeth. The department is well equipped with state of the art instruments and materials, where the students are trained on the finer aspects of different treatment modalities. The faculty is highly committed to impart the highest quality of education to students and shape them to be good professionals.
Apart from the under graduate course, department also has six seats per year for post graduation which are duly sanctioned by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India.
Department is provided with all the latest equipments and materials, sterilization room, computer room, reception room, laboratory, store room, seminar room and clinics for both the U.G. & P.G. courses separately.
The department has computerized dental chairs and units, one RVG with dental Radiography unit. A separate clinic for Endodontic surgery is also provided with dental operating microscope.
A supportive laboratory for casting work in metal and ceramic restorations is available in this department. Phantom head laboratory with tables, phantom heads, jaws micro-motors and airotors are available for Pre-clinical training.
Treatments performed in the department are:
- Amalgam restorations.
- Composite restorations.
- GIC restorations.
- Pulp capping procedures.
- Root canal treatment.
- Post and core.
- All esthetic dental procedures.
- Minor surgical procedures such as hemisection, radisection.
- Surgical procedures such as apicoectomy.
- Regenerative endodontic procedures.
Lab procedures performed in the department are:
- Inlay and onlay fabrication.
- Cast post and core.
- Metallic and ceramic crown preparations.
